STR Compliance · Select US markets
Your city has new rules. We help you keep track.
Over 2,000 US cities now regulate short-term rentals. PrepBnB Compliance maps your property to the right jurisdiction with a free per-city summary and a free 5-question self-audit. On a paid PrepBnB plan, you can opt in per property to renewal-date reminders and notes when we spot an ordinance update. We track and remind — we don’t file anything for you, and we never will.

Tracking is opt-in. Even on a paid PrepBnB plan, compliance tracking is never turned on automatically. You enable it per property when you’re ready.
Informational only — not legal advice. Our summaries can be wrong or out of date. STR ordinances change frequently, sometimes mid-year. Always confirm current requirements with the city yourself before applying for a permit or accepting a booking.
Why this matters
Since 2024, Airbnb and VRBO have been sharing host data with a growing number of US cities. In several jurisdictions a missed renewal can stack up daily fines that exceed a full year of this subscription. We help you keep an eye on the dates — you still need to confirm everything with the city yourself.
Markets we cover
Currently live in 10 US cities.
Each guide summarizes the permit, fee, occupancy tax, and fine schedule we’ve documented for that jurisdiction, with a link to the city’s own filing portal. We’re a small team adding cities deliberately — if yours isn’t here, sign up and we’ll let you know when it is.
We do not file applications, renewals, or tax returns on your behalf. All filing remains your responsibility. Treat each guide as a starting point and verify with the city.

How it works
How tracking works inside PrepBnB.
- 1
Read your city's guide. Take the self-audit.
Free — no signup required. A summary of the permit + tax rules we've documented for that city, plus a 5-question self-audit that flags likely gaps and emails you a personalized next-step list. Always confirm anything you find with the city directly.
- 2
Add a paid property to PrepBnB — or get Pro Suite.
Tracking lives inside the paid plan: $9/month per property starting at your second property, or $29/month Pro Suite (which unlocks tracking on all your properties, including the first free one). Tracking is opt-in per property — you turn it on when you're ready.
- 3
We send reminders for what we're tracking.
When we record a renewal date or notice an ordinance update for a covered city, we email you so you can act on it. We don't file anything for you, we can miss things, and our information can be wrong or stale — always confirm with the city before filing or accepting a booking.
Informational only — not legal advice. Our information can be wrong or out of date. Always verify current requirements with the city yourself before filing or accepting a booking.
